Home Grown Artists Announced


         New artists and past favorites will take part in the 2008 Home Grown Folk Festival at the Apple Shed Saturday, May 3 from 10:00 to 5:00 p.m. Local musicians, storytellers and artisans are the focus of the festival. The event is free and open to the public. A food booth will be available.

         Letha and Billy Dee Perkins of Bowling Green will appear on the stage for the first time at 4:00 p.m. . The Morrow Sisters originally of Clarksville, will once again entertain with their fiddling at 12:00 noon. Judy Schmidt is a former national hammered dulcimer champion. She will appear with other musicians at 2:00 p.m. Larry Robbins of Clarksville will entertain with country music at 1:00 p.m.

         Gladys Coggswell, master storyteller from Frankford and Angela Williams of Hannibal will tell stories at 11:00 a.m. . Paul Baum of Mexico will tell stories about Missouri's history at 3:00 p.m.

        Throughout the day Mary Hinds of Troy will demonstrate knitting, Betty Houf will demonstrate crocheting, Ann Keller of Louisiana will demonstrate basket making and Mike Reinhold will return with his native American flutes. Members of the Pike-Lin Quilters guild are demonstrating too.
